information extend to other languages, and to further our understanding of the source/nature of these effects. The structure of this paper is as follows. In Section 1, we review existing work on the effects of structural and non-structural factors on the interpretation of pronouns and reflexives in PNPs, including our previous research on English (Kaiser, Runner, Sussman & Tanenhaus 2007, 2008). Section 2 presents Experiment 1, which investigates pronouns, reflexives and emphatic reflexives in German. Section 3 presents Experiment 2, on pronouns, reflexives and emphatic pronouns in Dutch. Conclusions and directions for future work are discussed in Section 4.

Our annotation guidelines provide linguistic tests for locating the antecedent, and for determining the semantic types of both the antecedent and the anaphor.
